SETTINGS IN NAS SYNOLOGY PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN

for VPNKI with PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN

In this case we use NAS Synology DSM 6.1

Setup PPTP connection without encryption 

Setup L2TP/IPSec connection

Setup OpenVPN connection

 

Setup PPTP connection wihout encryption

1. Open "Control Panel" > "Network" > "Network Interface" > "Create"

2. Click to  "Create VPN profile"

3. Select PPTP connection method

4. Click "Next" and specify your VPNKI settings from vpnki.com "tunnel settings" page

5. Click "Next"

6. "Authentication" any of: "CHAP", "MS CHAP" or "MS CHAP v2" (recommended)

"Encryption" choose only "NO MPPE"

Please uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network"!!!

Check "Reconnect when the VPN connection is lost" (if need be)

And click "Apply" for save

7. After all go to "Control Panel" > "Network". Choose new VPN connection and click to "Connect"

 

8. Congrats! Your NAS connected to VPNKI!

 

 

Setup L2TP/IPsec connection

1. Open "Control Panel" > "Network" > "Network Interface" > "Create"  > "Create VPN Profile"

 

2. Select "L2TP/IPSec" and click "Next"

3. Specify your VPNKI settings from vpnki.com "tunnel settings" page.

"Pre-shared key": vpnki

Click "Next

4.  "Authentication" any of: "CHAP""MS CHAP" or "MS CHAP v2" (recommended)

"Encryption" choose only "NO MPPE"

Please uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network"!!!

Check "Server is behind NAT device"

Check "Reconnect when the VPN connection is lost" (if need be)

And click "Apply" for save

5. After all go to "Control Panel" > "Network". Choose new VPN connection and click to "Connect"

 

6. Congrats! Your NAS connected to VPNKI!

 

 

 

Setup OpenVPN connection

1. Open "Control Panel" > "Network" > "Network Interface" > "Create"

 

2. Select "OpenVPN (via importing a .ovpn file)" and click "Next"

3. Specify your VPNKI settings from vpnki.com "tunnel settings" page.

Download your .ovpn file from vpnki.com

Import .ovpn file from local directory 

And click "Next"

4. Please uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network"!!!

Check "Reconnect when the VPN connection is lost" (if need be)

5. After all go to "Control Panel" > "Network". Choose new OpenVPN connection and click to "Connect"

 

6. Congrats! Your NAS connected to VPNKI!
